English Translation:
On Friday, God finished creating the world.
God made fields and woods, people poor and rich, heaven, earth, and rivers,
And finished just in time for Friday night!
Because every Friday night it’s down with troubles – the table is bedecked,
it’s a pleasure to be in the house, and everything smells delicious.
Every Friday night we sit in our houses and sing zmires.
Little Sruli travels around – he goes everywhere, but he comes home just in time for Friday night.
His pious wife seats him at the table, serves him challah and fish.
It’s a delight in their house; everything is fresh, on Friday night.
